Our staff is comprised of dedicated early childhood professionals who have been with us for the past five to eleven years. They are passionate about our mission and the development of the whole child; spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive. Professional development and monthly staff meetings ensure that our staff maintains a level of professionalism with the most up to date trends in early childhood. Our staff begins our day prior to the arrival of the students with a morning prayer and overview of the day. Working together as a team we strive and succeed in providing a comfortable and conducive learning environment for our students and their families.
Continuity is of the utmost importance to us. Each classroom consists of a teacher and a teacher assistant. The state regulations require one adult per ten children for this age group. We exceed this regulation with a ratio of 1:6 and 1:7. We also have two consistent substitute teachers that the children become acquainted with during the first few weeks of school as they serve as extra staff during this transition.
The entire staff is trained in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid. This exceeds the state regulations for early childhood. The staff is also trained in the administration of medication for life threatening conditions annually by our nurse consultant for the specific students necessitating these medications.
This is my fourth year teaching at St Therese’s. I am a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in communications. Previously I worked as a assistant teacher at Children’s House of Montessori in Woodbridge for six years. I was also a stay at home mom to my three wonderful children, Lilly (15), Nolan (15) & Connor (13). In addition, I obtained by Certificate of Early Childhood prior to my position as a teacher at St. Therese Nursery School.
In September I will be starting my third year at STNS! I teach both the three and four year old classes. Prior to joining the staff at STNS, I was a kindergarten paraprofessional in the North Branford School district for many years. I have 20+ years experience teaching preschool and I am currently continuing my education in the field of Early Childhood Education through on line courses. I have two daughters who will be attending grad school in the fall and a son who will be a sophomore in college. I enjoy spending time with my family, getting together with friends, cooking, playing Scrabble, listening to music, reading, and spending time at the beach.
Kristin is the newest addition to the St. Therese Nursery School teaching staff. She holds a master's degree and a CT certification in School Counseling, and a CT certification in School Library-Media, having spent over five years in schools with preschool programs. In addition to teaching, Kristin enjoys spending time with her family (especially visiting new states and ballparks!) and appreciating the arts.
